May flowers

April showers bring May flowers and here it's no different.  I love my flowers and will miss them when we move.  But while I still have them lets take a walk and see them shall we?

Although not planted or planned dandelions are quite the photographic and quite pretty in their own way.
Next we start the daffodils....these are the bell of the garden.....the light colored ones are my favorite.
Next come the Lily of the Valley...so small and delicate they are just starting to open up.
Ahhh my delicate Lilac's are opening up and smelling wonderful....
Then along comes the odd ball daffodil.....the dark one....it's amazingly beautiful.
Another plant that is welcome but not planted are these viola's  I love the pretty yellow ones more than the purple ones that are abundant.
Also blooming is the forsythia.....many people hate this bush cause of the pollen.  But I like it's pretty yellow flowers.
Continuing along our journey is our Barberry bush and it's very tiny yellow red flowers.  They are hard to find along all the thorns and red-green leaves.
My pride and joy is the pink dogwood.  Such pretty flowers that come out long before any leaves.  So pretty and delicate looking.

So I hope you enjoyed today's walk through the front yard's show of flowers.  Until next time...have a wonderful weekend.

GBBD - March 2012

It's Bloom Day again and this month I am so happy because I have something to show off.
Inside the house my Hyacinths were blooming and smelling wonderful.
Can't you just smell it?  So pretty too.

Even the blue ones decided to come out and play.
A small Daffodil decided to pop up as well.

So delicate yet so pretty.
Although not planted here these guys just love the pot and have once again decided that it was time for them to bloom.  The container is outside and these guys just show up out of no where.....crazy violas
A bad picture but  the best I could get is my perrywinkle that has decided that it is spring enough outside to start growing and blooming.  Not a lot of flowers just a few but still.....in March?
Of course then you have these guys....Crocus.  They are the first to bloom in my yard and without fail they have done it again.  I just found the leaf part peaking through the leaves 2 days ago and not a bud in sight and yesterday and today check it out suddenly not only are there buds but flowers.  They are so pretty.

Well that's all for this months tour I hope you enjoyed it.  Sorry for the bad pictures.  But if you want to see more Gardens in Bloom this Garden Bloggers Bloom Day then head over to Carols blog May Dreams Gardens and see what else is blooming around the world.

A month behind

Mother Nature sure does need a new calendar.  Irish Lady's Garden's are in for yet another week jam packed full of RAIN. Don't get me wrong we need rain.  But come on now....can I go weed my gardens please?   My poor Iris are trying to bloom but they are lasting a day if that long.  The rain keeps ruining the delicate pedals.
Hard to see unless you enlarge it but these poor beauties don't seem to be lasting long.

Again don't get me wrong we need rain.  Can't grow flowers and tree's with out rain.  Could do with out the every growing grass though....too many mosquitoes.

But I will say this for the rain...it sure makes for some wonderful pictures.

One of my Peony's about to open.  But look how much prettier it is when water droplets.
Add water droplets to the purple Viola and it seems to change the color altogether.
One of the light blue Iris that just opened looks quite striking with water all over.
Now this Rose is looking quite drenched.
Another Iris beginning to bloom showing off it's yellow color between rain drops.

Rain may make it hard to get into the gardens to take pictures and weed - or as I like to call it de-weed - but it does help the flowers grow.  And when you can get out there to take a picture or two just imagine what interesting shots you may find.

These are called Bellis.  This one is bi-colored.

Same type different color.

Petunia, this picture does not do them justice.  They are so incredibly beautiful.

This has to be my favorite flower this time around....next to the cactus thats next.  This is on my Polka-dot plant.  I didn't know they even flowered.

My Christmas Cactus...or at least thats what the label said.  I am thinking more of an Easter Cactus

Thriving Thursday - Seedlings

Welcome back Thursday.  Today I like you because it means that the weekend is very close.  Jack Frost and Old Man Winter are now on my do not call list.  As we are now under a winter storm warning.

Anyways for this Thriving Thursday I want to show off my seedlings.  Many of us have started seeds waiting for the right time to plant them outside and get the gardens going and though I may have started a few too soon I have some really nice looking plants ready to go.

White Strawberry plants started back in December.  I can grow strawberries.  Question is will it stay alive.

Strawberry-Spinach.  I saw these online and just thought it sounded really cool.  So back in December along with the White Strawberries I started these.  Pretty much just looks like Spinach right now but very healthy.

Also started back in December was these two.  Viola and Pansy.  I was hoping to bring some flowering color into the house.  They are doing quite well just no signs of flowers yet.

Like I don't show of my spider plants enough on here here are 2 babies in water.  The roots are looking quite well.  This is more to show the kids how plants grow.  Ok ok so I wanted to do it.  I think it 's cool too.

My love for the Polka-Dot plants inspired me to order some seeds.  And the first of the seedlings have begun to sprout their true leaves.

One of my Clematis plants that is growing quite well.  Just waiting for planting outside.  Started from roots not seeds but still counts.

Bad picture but this is the other clematis plant.  They are in the same big pot with smaller ones containing each.  I just hope I get to plant them soon.  I don't want them to get root bound.

My tomato plants.  Bad picture but there they are.

My morning glory plants.  Each pot has a different variety in it.

The rest of my tomato plants.  They were all started at the same time but these have been able to find their summer home.  Granted it is inside right now but they won't be transplanted again.

So what seedlings are Thriving in your garden this Thursday.  Post your link below with a link back to my blog and leave a comment.  Come back later and see who else is having a Thriving Thursday.
