Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - May

It's the 15th of the Month.  Time to join Carol at May Dreams Gardens and many other Garden Bloggers in the joy of posting pictures of our gardens in bloom.  Although not part of this for very long I look fwd to it each and every month.  Hoping that each post I will get to show something different that is in bloom.  Although there are new blooms this month some are on plants featured last month.  But it doesn't matter. So to start the show we will begin with the houseplants.

 Not a new addition to the blog but the Polka Dot plants are blooming again.  This time a Purple color instead of Pink.

 A Spring Cactus.  Such pretty and different flowers.  These guys close up at night and open again each morning.

Another old timer is the Spider plant flowers.  Only difference this time is this particular flower is on my newer younger Ocean spider plant.

Here is a picture of the whole Ocean spider.  Very different variety from my other spider plant.







With the Houseplants in bloom taken care of it's time to head outside and take a look at what is going on.

 Although still a bud it's worth showing off.  The Peony's are gearing up for their show.

 Another bud worth showing off is from one of my rose bushes....2 of the 3 older ones have buds on them.

 This rose bush is new this year...Tiddly Winks.

 One of my new columbine.  Such pretty delicate flowers.

 The other new Columbine.

 Found growing in the gardens this year was this extreme miniature plant from the Narcissus family known as Jonquilla.

 Another bud begging to be shown is the Iris.  After watching the leaves grow it was a great joy and surprise to find that many are now sporting buds.

 Silly Pansy plant decided that it really liked IrishGardens and came back this year.  Although the foliage is very sparse the flowers are not.

 The other Pansy plant that came back.  There were 4 and although the other 2 show some signs of foliage only 2 have truly come back and bloomed.

 Lily of the Valley.  These were transplanted from my Mothers Garden.  They survived the transplant well and still bloomed.

 The latest in the Hope Blooms Tulips to show off it's color.

 Just cause I love the way they look more of the Tulips.

 A new container I planted Mothers Day.  Containing a Mini Rose bush....with Apricot blooms and a Brazilian Jasmine vine with pink blooms.

 Although hard to see a areal view of my Garden in the front.  I call it the Rose garden as to the left and still part of the garden is my 3 main rose bushes.  but the Columbine, Lily of the Valley, and Tulips and Daffodils are also located in this garden and picture.


Looking down at the gardens show a lot of beauty but now lets take a look up....at the Show stoppers.

 Although not quite high enough to look up at the Magnolia tree is looking good and it's single bloom is a real joy to see.

 Simple yet beautiful one of my Dogwood tree's is in full bloom now.

 Beautiful doesn't begin to describe this Lilac tree....the smell of the blooms alerts visitors to it's presence long before the sight does.

Nestled in the back by the Gas tanks is what I believe to be a Crabapple tree in full bloom.  So incredibly beautiful.  If it wasn't part of the big shaded area in the back yard that seems to house the mosquito's it would be my thinking spot.

Mother's day is a day to remember what our Mother's did for us.  To thank them for always being there.  To give them a day of special treatment.  Last year I got a Greenhouse for Mother's day.  This year the garden theme continues with a few little useful things for the garden.

I hope that all the Mom's out there have a wonderful day.

Thriving Thursday and Frost

It's May and I just had to bring in all my potted plants.  A frost advisory has been issued for our area.  How crazy is that.   Nuts if you ask me.  Anyways I wanted to post to apologize last week I did not do Thriving Thursday.  But I am here today to show off what is truly Thriving this Thursday.

 Starting off the show is this lovely Tulip 'Hope Blooms'

 Same variety but different look.

 These are more of the same 'Hope Blooms' Tulip.  Not one looks the same.  I love it.

 A close up of the whitest looking one.  Still some pink though.

 Bought a Magnolia Tree a little while ago and this is the first and so far only bloom.  Lots of leaves have popped out but this is the only bloom so far.  I can't wait to see it open.

 This pretty yellow Pansy is truly deserving of the Thriving Thursday post.  I planted these Annual Pansy's last year.  After the harsh winter some how they survived enough to bloom this year.  Maybe 2 feet of snow insulated them enough that they became Perennial's.

 Hard picture to see but absolutely had to post it.  My 4 year old Son is showing off how tall the Flowering Crabapple tree is.  We planted this tree 1 year ago.  And it is doing quite well.

 My over achieving lettuce that is growing in the greenhouse.  Each of those panels is 2' wide.  Since you are looking at a corner with 2 panels showing it's thats 4 square feet of growing space.  That should give you some idea as too how big that one plant is.

 Parsley anyone?

Or can I interest you in some Chocolate Mint?  I just harvested this guy a week ago.....maybe I should do it again.  Anyone want some cuttings?

So there it is.  Just a small peak at what's going on in my garden this past week.  Lots of growth.  Hopefully the impending frost misses us and my plants outside survive.  Until then have a great night.

GBBD - February 2011

Good morning fellow bloggers and readers.  Today the sun is shinning and the snow is showing signs of melting.  In fact if you look in foot prints in the back yard you can actually see grass....or what should be grass.

Anyways today is Garden Bloggers Bloom Day here in Blogging world.  Want to see some really pretty blooms check out May Dreams Gardens thats the main page to find blogs all over that are blooming today.

So for today I would first like to introduce the newest plant in my garden.  Tulips.  My favorite flower of all.  My wonderful hubby got me a bouquet of them but then surprised me last night with potted tulips.

I just love tulips.   Here is my daughters Birthday plant still in bloom.

And just because her are some other pictures of flowers that can be found around my home today.

These are actually dried flowers but hey I thought it would be kinda cool.

The tulips are from the bouquet that my husband got for me.  What pretty colors.  The other flowers are part of a bouquet that I got for my kids.  They got some flowers and the rest went into my vase.

They sprinkled the flowers with red sparkles.....not a great picture of a daisy but pretty still.

The carnations were just so big and full and pretty.  I had to add it to the post.

Not a great picture again but one that shows the 3 different colors of tulips that Josh got me.  I love them.

Ok I know not flowers but just look how colorful they are.  Ok so maybe it's hard to see but these polka dot plants are so cool.  Green and red, Green and white, Green and pink.

Like I said I really love tulips.  This is a close up of the potted ones.

 I can't wait to see what others have blooming in their gardens today.  I pray that you all had a wonderful Valentines Day and that today finds you well.
